Anybody else doing it this year?
NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is a challenge in which you write 50,000 words of fiction in 30 days. The goal is wordcount, not readability; quantity, not quality.
It seems I'm a much slower writer than I realized. I would spend hours on end producing a bare 2,000 words, my daily quota. I think I thought too much and wrote too little. At least I ended up with a story I found entertaining.
I'm going to have to write a lot faster this year. I just hope the quality doesn't suffer too much - I am still aiming for "entertaining".
