My first post on what looks like a very promising site.

I found you on a day when kuro5hin was down, and I was bored. scoop.kuro5hin.org has a section for scoop sites, and you've listed yourself there, so here I am.

I've written a few small stories, mostly, ahem, erotica. Write what you know, they say. Or what you think about, at least. ;-)

Anyway, I'm very interested in learning to write better. Most of my real writing experience is in technical articles (I'm a scientist in real life), so blowing the dust out of the written word appeals to me. I think I'll try submitting something to your (only) exercise. And perhaps write up some musings I've been doing on the question Who is that omniscient narrator dude, anyway?

I appreciate your holding down the fort, waiting for folks like me to show up.

I'm not sure what this is telling me, but most of the members of this site are scientific types who want to write. It's kind of wierd, and kind of cool. Other writing sites I've been to seem to have been populated by mostly artistic types who want to write, and I always felt a bit out of place because of my engineering background.

Anyhow, I'm glad you found Write On, and I hope you enjoy your stay here. Good luck with your writing! (and I can't wait to see the article you're thinking of posting.)

I saw your name at Adequacy, ana. I joined but don't think I'll stay. They seem to pride themselves on snobbishness and sophomoric humor, a little of which goes a long way.

I can't exactly claim to be a science type. I call myself
an independent scholar (no college degree) and my field is primarily psychology. I watch social and cultural change and write articles of analysis, mostly.

I skimmed through a lot of the early material here and noticed that Write On was originally intended to be for SF writers, but now includes all genres.

So if there are a lot of science types here, does that mean the possibility of intelligent, interesting conversation?

    Adequacy...sophomoric...

Verily. Sometimes I feel like a sophomore, though, and that's just the place for it.

Hope so. I've only been here a week or two myself.
