spam names (4.00/1) (#1)
by sabeth on Sat Feb 25, 2006 at 09:42:38 PM PST
I don't tend to read the body of spam messages, but I can't help but catch the names attached to them. I liked it when there was a trend toward using random words as the sender's name (invariably with a middle initial) -- it made for interesting juxtapositions. Though it seems to be less common now, the other day I got a spam from "Bend U. Ventilator."

Now that the latest thing seems to be to use randomly generated, yet still plausibly human names, I figure they can be mined for character names as well. In the last week or so I've been contacted by Montgomery Mills, Stefan Hightower, Braeden Watson, Jaden Scott, and Tekla Wiedeman. Since they're already fictional, why not give them full lives outside of sending unsolicited commercial email?
